Dear Students and Parents,
Welcome to Social Studies! I am so excited about this school year. We will make great strides in Social Studies this year. I know everyone will gain an even greater appreciation for history after this school year is finished.
My name is Anne Cochran. This is my third year at GMS. I am so happy and blessed to be here. I am currently teaching Social Studies in all grade levels. Each grade level has a different Social Studies content.
6th Grade World History
7th Grade American History
8th Grade Louisiana History
Students, your responsibilities in the classroom are to follow the classroom rules and school guidelines. As middle school students I expect the following:
- Please follow directions the first time given.
- Please be respectful to others in class.
- Please keep hands, feet and objects to yourself.
- Please come to class with all materials, positive attitude and ready to work.
- Please stay in your seat unless you have permission to get up.
If you CHOOSE to not follow the rules, these are the consequences for breaking rules in my class.
- Verbal warning
- Phone call to parent
- Referral to counselor
- Parent conference
- Written referral
The grading policy in my classes follows the school guidelines which you can also find in the Student Handbook.
50% of grade test/quizzes/projects
25% classwork/class participation/homework
Assignments: Each day we will go through the class curriculum. Along with this, there will be homework assignments. Every day you are expected to study your notes/vocabulary/and any other material that we have covered. Studying is a daily part of homework! This is the only way for you to learn and understand what is covered in class. Additional assignments will be given as well.

One note book markers 1 box of Kleenex
One pocket folder crayons 1 pack of copy paper
Pencils/pens hand held pencil sharpener
Highlighters construction paper
